Distortions

Lens distortion filmmaking warps space so straight lines bow, stretch, or melt: barrel, pincushion, mustache, extreme wide stretch, or a physical distorting optic such as a diopter, a bottle, or rain on glass. The lens is lying about geometry, not adding flare.
